“As an affiliate of ASA, AuSM supports the efforts of this national organization and the work they do for individuals, families, and advocates,” Jonah Weinberg, AuSM’s executive director said. “Having a national day to raise autism awareness and dollars in support of programs and services for those affected by autism is beneficial to all communities across the country.”

Where other national fundraising efforts often are committed to genetic and biological research into the cause of autism, the mission of autism societies across the U.S. is to support the community that currently is affected by the developmental disorder. “Minnesota schools serve more than 17,000 students with autism,” Weinberg said. “Our goal is to ensure that each one of those girls and boys has the resources they need to be successful as they grow, as well as supportive programs and services through adulthood.”
