Duluth Social Skills Summer 2017


AuSM is pleased to partner with the Duluth Art Institute, the Lake Superior Zoo, and the Great Lakes Aquarium to offer three exciting summer social skills classes for youth with autism.

DuluthArtLogoWEBAuSM Artists at the Duluth Art Institute (ages 12-21)
Work with different mediums and techniques as you learn about art history. Spend time in the darkroom making cyanoprints, and in the fiber studio with wool felting. Explore painting with different materials including liquid watercolors and salt. Spend quality time on the projects that interest you most. Throughout the class, your work will be stored on site in your own portfolio, which will go home with you on the final day of class.

DuluthZooLogoWEBZookeeper Camp at the Lake Superior Zoo (ages 8-11) CLASS IS FULL
Learn what it is like to be a zookeeper by preparing animal meals, making enrichments, cleaning exhibits, observing animals and more. AuSM provides daily opportunities to learn and use social skills.

DuluthAquariumLogoWEBAnimal Care Camp at Great Lakes Aquarium (ages 12-18)
Take an active role in animal care at Great Lakes Aquarium while developing social skills useful in everyday life. Get hands-on practice with animal behavior observations and engineering design challenges to create enrichment to keep the resident animals healthy, happy, and active. Working as a team, go behind the scenes to prepare meals, clean exhibits, test water quality, participate in collections and more! AuSM Animal Care Camp is designed to support youth with autism in a fun, safe, and engaging environment while they increase self-esteem, expand their knowledge, and build friendships.
