The Way Back Home Sensory-Friendly Performance
Experience an entertaining and interactive retelling of The Way Back Home, designed to be a welcoming and meaningful experience for youth with sensory, social and learning disabilities. When a boy discovers a single-propeller airplane in his closet, he does what any young adventurer would do: he flies into outer space! Millions of miles from Earth, the plane begins to sputter and quake. The fuel tank is empty and the boy must execute a daring landing on the moon. But as it turns out, he is not alone up there. The Way Back Home uses puppets to tell a simple yet profound tale about friendship and conquering the fear of the unknown. This performance is part of the 2017 Flint Hills International Children’s Festival, presented by Ordway Center for the Performing Arts. Cost: $8.00 per person in advance. “Pay what you can” day of the performance on a first-come, first serve basis and subject to availability.
