Autism and Reproductive Health
This course is designed for autistic adults who experience (or who have experienced) periods, pregnancy, and menopause. The course will guide you through multiple lessons that individuals in the community have identified as essential and meaningful to better understanding. By the end of the course, participants will learn what to expect during significant life transitions and strategies to promote overall well-being.
Sylvia Swanson
At the time of publication, Sylvia Swanson was a third-year occupational therapy doctoral student at the University of Minnesota.
Throughout my education, I have grown a passion for women’s health. I believe that through the lens of an occupational therapist, a more holistic and preventative approach to healthcare can occur. Additionally, there is a recognized need for a better understanding of the needs of autistic adults who experience (or have experienced) periods, pregnancy, and menopause, yet there continues to be limited research. I hope this course helps the community by providing meaningful and pertinent information that enhances their quality of life. Additionally, this course will identify areas of research that the community would further benefit from so that a more occupationally just world occurs.
