This training will highlight how assistive technology, and remote support can help you be more in control of your life. We’ll talk about what these supports are, how they can be used, and how you can request them through your waiver plan. You’ll also learn how to talk with your case manager or support planner, what steps are involved in getting technology approved, and how to advocate for the tools and services that work best for you.
This session is about helping you explore your options and feel more confident in speaking up for what you need.

  • Know the steps to get approval for a waiver to pay for assistive technology
  • Feel confident in identifying and advocating for appropriate tools and services

Presenter

Alaina Gallagher is a dynamic leader dedicated to leveraging technology to enhance quality of life. With six years of experience in Assistive Technology and Remote Support, she owns Technology for Independence Consulting and serves as the Executive Project Manager for ARRM’s Enabling Technology grant. She collaborates with individuals, providers, and payers to integrate technology into support services. As Chair of MN Networking & Education in Assistive Technology (MN NEAT), she champions awareness and accessibility statewide. Alaina is committed to empowering individuals and organizations to use technology effectively for greater independence and improved outcomes.
