SUMMARY:EdASE Summer Camp
DESCRIPTION:This summer the School of Computing at Clemson University DevLab@Clemson team is hosting the 5th annual EdASE Summer Camp — Educating Autistic Software Engineers. EdASE is a free\, National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded\, fully virtual video game design and development camp for autistic high school students. \nOver three weeks\, students will use block-based programming to build a real video game while practicing teamwork\, communication\, and collaboration skills that can support future pathways in computing. Because the camp is fully virtual\, students can participate from home. \nThis camp is best for autistic high school students who are comfortable participating in a live online setting\, following multi-step computer-based activities\, asking for help when needed\, and collaborating with teammates on a shared game project. No advanced coding experience is required. \nDetails:\n• Dates: July 6–24\n• Format: Fully virtual\n• Cost: Free\n• Who: Autistic high school students\n• Apply / learn more: edase.org/edase-summer-camp

SUMMARY:Connect and Play
DESCRIPTION:This event creates an inclusive atmosphere by intentionally providing a welcoming\, low-pressure environment where children and families of all abilities can connect\, play\, and build relationships. Hosted in an outdoor park setting\, the event reduces many of the sensory demands that can be present in crowded indoor activities\, while offering plenty of space for children to engage at their own comfort level. \nThe sensory-friendly approach encourages participation without expectations or structured performance demands\, allowing children with autism and other sensory sensitivities to explore\, play\, and socialize in ways that feel comfortable for them. Families have the opportunity to connect with others who may share similar experiences\, helping to foster a sense of belonging and community\, add to their village. \nActivities such as giant lawn games\, open-ended play\, and casual social interaction support a variety of communication styles\, interests\, and sensory needs including sensory bins by The Learning Space. By creating a supportive and accepting environment where differences are respected and celebrated\, the event helps ensure that every child and family feels welcomed\, included\, and valued.
