Communicating With Scripts: An Introduction to Gestalt Language Processing

Communicating With Scripts: An Introduction to Gestalt Language Processing

Many autistic children communicate using scripts. This style of communication development is known as gestalt language processing. Gestalt language processors move through predictable stages on their way to producing original, flexible language. Learn about characteristics of gestalt language processing, get an introduction to the different stages of gestalt processing and take in some quick tips for supporting gestalt language processors. This presentation will include support strategies for communicators who speak by mouth and those who use AAC. Information will be presented with a neurodiversity affirming lens, grounded by the research and clinical experience gathered by Marge Blanc and colleagues.
