An IEP is one of the most important tools there is in the education of a student with a disability, but many of them are deficit-focused, and even damaging. But does it have to be this way? What is a neurodiversity-affirming IEP and why is it important? How do we go about creating one? This presentation is a continuation of last year’s talk about Ableism in Education and will cover the next step going from deficit-based models to strength-based ones that affirm a child’s neurology rather than trying to change it.
