Impactful Early Education for Children with Autism: Case Examples from an Inclusive Montessori Preschool
High quality early childhood education is powerfully impactful on the global development of children on the autism spectrum. This lecture presents the outcomes for young learners with autistic traits attending a full-day inclusive preschool at a Montessori Children’s House program. The Montessori Method is centered on both a highly prepared learning environment and multi-age, hands-on, individualized instruction. Case examples highlighted in this presentation illustrate how the methodology, environment, and supports align with best practices for early education and autism. Outcomes for students identified as at-risk or identified with autism will be analyzed and discussed.
