“Subtle but Significant” Autism
Evaluating professionals are beginning to recognize that we have been “missing” many autistic children, especially girls, gender diverse, and gifted individuals. These youth are at higher risk of suicidal ideation and victimization, making it crucial for us as clinicians to better identify, understand, and support them. This talk reviews characteristics of these individuals, what to include and consider when completing an evaluation, and offers insights for how to best support them in their development and mental health from a neurodiversity-affirming perspective.
