KIDS strives to support families and educators strengthen and nurture meaningful relationships with children that present challenges associated with relating, communicating and learning such as: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing/Integration Disorders, Regulatory and Behavioral disorders.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) evaluations at Great Lakes Neurobehavioral Center are completed by one of our pediatric neuropsychologists, clinical psychologists, or a team made up of a pediatric neuropsychologist and school psychologist. All of our providers complete a thorough assessment using the most stringent, evidence-based tools (i.e., including the ADOS, the gold-standard play-based autism assessment tool). In addition, they complete an in-depth clinic interview with parents/caregivers and a full review of medical and educational records. During ASD evaluations our providers will not only make a decision regarding the appropriateness of an ASD diagnosis but will also evaluate for the potential of co-morbid disorders (i.e, mood disorders, attention related disorders, language disorder, and learning difficulties).
