Great Lakes Neurobehavioral Center

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) evaluations at Great Lakes Neurobehavioral Center are completed by one of our pediatric neuropsychologists, clinical psychologists, or a team made up of a pediatric neuropsychologist and school psychologist. All of our providers complete a thorough assessment using the most stringent, evidence-based tools (i.e., including the ADOS, the gold-standard play-based autism assessment tool). In addition, they complete an in-depth clinic interview with parents/caregivers and a full review of medical and educational records. During ASD evaluations our providers will not only make a decision regarding the appropriateness of an ASD diagnosis but will also evaluate for the potential of co-morbid disorders (i.e, mood disorders, attention related disorders, language disorder, and learning difficulties).

As always, at GLNC, our providers take a strengths-based approach to our evaluations. Our goal is to help families, providers, and education teams understand where your child’s current strengths and challenges lie. Once appropriate diagnoses are determined, our providers will help families craft a treatment plan including recommendations for interventions, supports, and accommodations to help your child grow and develop to their fullest potential.

At GLNC we understand the importance of early-intervention, especially when it comes to ASD interventions. Thus, we see children as young as 18 months for ASD evaluations.

Lastly, GLNC also offers outpatient therapy services for children with ASD and co-morbid disorders. Therapeutic modalities such as behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, skills-training, and solutions-focused are commonly used.
