AuSM partners with educational organizations to host virtual Summer Symposium for teachers

AuSM is partnering with Metro ECSU, Minnesota Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders, Minnesota Department of Education, and University of St. Thomas to offer a two-day Summer Symposium: Evidence-Based Practices for Supporting Learners with ASD and EBD in a Multi-Tiered System of Support. This event will be offered in an online virtual format Aug. 6-7, 2020.

Different students have different needs, requiring educators to have a continuum of practices in their repertoire. Classroom systems that incorporate a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) and align with school-wide systems can efficiently address a range of student needs through the flexible implementation of evidence-based practices.

Special educators, general educators, paraprofessionals, related-service providers, and administrators are invited to participate in Summer Symposium and engage with experienced professionals to enhance their practice for learners with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or emotional behavioral disorder (EBD). Each session topic will include a content lecture examining developmental differences, linking challenges to educational needs and goals, and highlighting evidence-based practices that promote skill-building. Sessions also will include opportunity for small group breakouts for hands-on learning and knowledge share.
