Lowry adds classes to fall line-up

AuSM friends at Lowry Nature Center are offering two additional classes for people with autism ages 13+ this fall. Click on the link to register for the October session and visit Lowry’s website when the November session registration is open.

Furs and Bones Discovery for People with Autism (ages 13+)
Sunday, Oct. 10 from 12:30-3 p.m.

Take a close look at Lowry’s collection of biofacts and discover what we can learn from them. Practice finding bones by dissecting an owl pellet. Make friends and practice communicating your needs during safe, off-trail adventures away from the comforts of home. Participants must be able to demonstrate self-care skills without assistance, independently follow adult direction and safety rules, and show readiness for large group participation including always remaining with the group. Co-taught with AuSM educators.

Geocaching for People with Autism (ages 13+)
Sunday, Nov. 21 from 12:30-3 p.m.

Practice using a GPS device to find and create geocaches. Join us for a late fall hike as we explore the trails. Make friends and practice communicating your needs during safe, off-trail adventures away from the comforts of home. Participants must be able to demonstrate self-care skills without assistance, independently follow adult direction and safety rules, and show readiness for large group participation including always remaining with the group. Co-taught with AuSM educators.
